How FPS Config Files Work
FPS config files are pre-made settings files that modify a game's visual and performance parameters to maximize frame rates. These files typically adjust settings like shadow quality, anti-aliasing, texture resolution, and render distance to prioritize performance over visual fidelity.
Most games store their settings in .ini or .cfg files in your user directory. By replacing these files with optimized versions, you can achieve significant FPS improvements — often 30-60% or more — without installing any software.
All configs on PCDEX are tested on a range of hardware from GTX 1050-level cards to RTX 3060. We always recommend backing up your original config files before applying any modifications so you can easily revert if needed.
